Broomhill, Glasgow
Broomhill is a popular location in the west end of Glasgow. There are 606 multi-storey flats in Broomhill. The five, 18-storey blocks are serviced by two lifts, although the lift does not service the top floor in any of the blocks. The blocks have a controlled door-entry system and are covered by 24-hour CCTV cameras. There are six flats on each landing consisting of 2- and 3-apartments.
The three 8-storey blocks each have one lift, and all of the accommodation is double-glazed. There are four flats to a landing, each of either 2- or 3-apartments. There is a drying area situated on each floor as well as chutes for the disposal of household waste.
There are also 74 traditional maisonettes and flats, the majority of which are now sold to sitting tenants. The properties remaining for let are popular and unfortunately rarely available. All properties have electric storage heating and there are drying areas located on each floor as well as chute for the disposal of household waste.
In the Broomhill area we have a small percentage, of around 20% of our properties, fitted with a Care Call alarm system. This is a similar system to Sheltered Housing with the exception that there is no warden service, although a 24-hour emergency response is provided.
Gorget, Glasgow
Gorget is situated close to Knightswood, in the north west of Glasgow. This small estate consists of three 8-storey blocks and some maisonettes.
The three 8-storey bocks have four flats on each landing with a mix of 2-, and 3-apartment. Sheltered accommodation for the elderly is distributed within the three blocks, which also have controlled door-entry systems and a lift that services all floors except the top floor. All flats are double-glazed, with electric night storage heaters.
There are 65 maisonette properties, containing a mix of 2-, and 4-apartment family homes. Unfortunately, many of these have been sold to sitting tenants and the remainder rarely become available for let. The properties have electric storage heating and are double-glazed.
