City Building partnership
A modern, localised and even more efficient repairs and maintenance service is being provided to thousands of affordable housing tenants thanks to a £3.7billion joint venture (JV) between Wheatley Group and Glasgow City Council.
On April 1, 2017, Wheatley became a 50/50 joint owner with the local authority of City Building (Glasgow).
The JV provides repairs and investment work to Wheatley’s Registered Social Landlords in the west of Scotland – GHA, Cube and Loretto – as well as the Group’s mid-market commercial housing subsidiary and property-management company, Lowther Homes.
The JV, which will employ more than 2000 staff, will be responsible for Wheatley’s annual housing repairs budget of £33 million and annual investment budget of £27 million, as well as carrying out £30 million of repairs annually on behalf of the City Council.
