How you can recycle and help other tenants at the same time
If you’re keen to get rid of unwanted furniture, help keep communities clean and support your fellow tenants – why not donate to Home Comforts?
Our Home Comforts service helps tenants who need furniture but can’t afford it.
We take unwanted pieces of furniture, clean them and make them as good as new – then pass them to tenants who need it most.
It’s a vital service which provides a real lifeline to people struggling to furnish their home.
And we’re always looking for donations.
We’ll pick up white goods such as washing machines, electrical items including televisions, and household furniture such as tables, chairs, beds and wardrobes.
Catherine Wilkie, of our parent company Wheatley Group, said: “Donating your unwanted furniture is a great way of recycling – and helping other tenants at the same time.
“If you have a wardrobe or sofa or any other item of furniture you want rid of, Home Comforts will come and pick it up for you.
“That saves things going to landfill, helps keep closes, foyers and backcourts clean and tidy – and helps tenants turn their house into a home.
“We’re really looking for wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedroom furniture.
“If anyone can help us, we’ll make sure we find these items a good home.”
If you have furniture, electrical or white goods in your home you no longer need, get in touch with your housing officer, give us a phone or drop us an email and we can arrange a free pick-up.
